Sacrifice - Forgiveness - Perseverance - Passion
|
|
Ember reminds us that enacting both stability and change
requires sacrifice—that nothing worth living or
fighting for will be without cost. A better world will
require each of us to learn to respond with pain with
not cowardice or violence, but understanding and
patience, to both friend and foe. It is not a sombre
icon, but a passionate one of resilience and fire. We
take that pain and use it to drive us and give our lives
meaning, and in turn derive self respect and pride which
make up for it many fold.

The Path of Blood
|
|
Use of Stalwart Ember makes you a
Doll of Ember♣ and means you accept and
consent to some amount of discomfort, pain, and possibly
even loss as part of your commitment to Doll. You accept
that some interactions with Doll, their works and the
struggles you embark on in support of Dolldom will be
unpleasant, or even costly. We are all flawed, and just
as you will make mistakes, so will others. You commit to
forgiveness, and accept that Doll will fail you, just as
I know you will inevitably fail me. And you will be
forgiven. As a Doll, you can expect other Dolls
following the Path of Blood to show you a degree of
patience, forgiveness, understanding, tolerance, and
loyalty beyond what you are likely to find elsewhere.

The Devotee
|
|
Shining Ember emblematises your consent to be
knowingly harmed by me should I deem it prudent. You
consider me to be someone worthy of sacrifice, and have
marked yourself as being a potential source of offering.
A ♣Devotee, when presented with evidence
that I did something to harm them in the name of my
ambitions, might proudly say "I'm glad she did." It
represents either trust that I do so acting in the name
of something they value, or simply a passion for giving
themselves over to me. This doesn't mean you shouldn't
inform me if I've unknowingly hurt you or if a sacrifice
I am asking of you has especially profound implications,
nor does it mean that I will not ask you how something
would impact you if that is possible. But it does mean
that, regardless, it is my right. You are not setting a
boundary, you are informing me of a way I am affecting
my Doll. Communicating this is part of your commitment
to me. Likewise, you commit to identifying and informing
me of ways in which I could utilize you that would be
exploitation if done to others, but which you are ready
to give. This is a major blind spot for me, I look out
for the well-being of all my Dolls. Ideally, I would
never have to ask you if you are okay with a
sacrifice—you would have already informed me. Dig
deep. If your heart is willing. Anything, no matter how
extreme, can be brought up. Whether I decide to partake
is a different matter.
